Chef Amy has worked in culinary off and on for over 40 years. She was trained at Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and worked for Oracle Corporation in a non-foodservice role, teaching, writing, and presenting. When she became a cooking instructor, she merged her two passions into one. Her recipes are well written and organized. Once you buy a recipe, she is available for additional questions.

Chef Amy Fothergill is a gluten-free cooking expert, author, recipe developer, instructor, blogger, and photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area (Half Moon Bay area). She was formerly known as The Family Chef or Amy the Family Chef. In 2026, She decided to rebrand to Amy the GF Chef as this better represents what she is currently doing.
She specializes in gluten-free recipes that are family-friendly, healthy, and accessible for everyone—not just those with dietary restrictions. Her focus is on making gluten-free cooking approachable with tips, techniques, and everyday meals that the whole family can enjoy.
